The present. The afternoon cooking show is being displayed on the television, the surrounding is calm and quiet. Aradhana looking at her phone as Benita gets ready to go out with her friends. Aradhana sits on the sofa with a relief after her morning routine. Her vision is continuously getting disturbed by Benita as she rushes through each room to find her things. Aradhana’s daily show now has murmur and flickers.

 BENITA  

Why I can’t find anything in this house, I’m late mom.

(on phone)

coming, I checked and it shows the bus will take more 15 minutes to reach.

Benita opens the display of the phone to find various notifications, reminders and the ticking sound of the time watch to reach at bus stop. The burden to perform these task breaks her motion.

AARADHNA 

Why rush if you have everything planned?

you only going there because of the 

 screen, right? can I help you with anything?

and can you stop moving in front my show?

For a minute Aradhana looks at Benita with fascinating look and asks her whether she will take a photo for her.

AARADHNA 

Well I have to send it to my friends. 

Aradhana takes the picture and immediately post it on various platforms. Within few seconds the chat box fills with messages appreciating the picture of her.

Neema – where can I get a daughter like her ?? she is so perfect.

Moka – Will she be friend of my daughter if she goes to school.

TRANSPORT – NOON.          2

The glaring sun outside the bus can give anyone a headache but Benita got her bus on time. Even though its noon, the bus is still crowed. she grabs her seat scanning her id and seat number. it’s the window seat again and it was a pleasant daylight to capture the dark honey eyes of hers. she adjusts her camera accordingly cropping background people as well as the rusty old interiors of the bus and clicks some shots to Aradhana.   

(Oh, new construction again, how is it that they built these quickly?

The vibe of this place seems lovely, should I inform Shilpa?

Why can’t people check the bus time and book their seats, Dumbnumbs.

Should I order something to eat? it may arrive by the time I reach, but what to order? Oh.

How can they be so clumsy about the pics they post?)

As soon as Benita reaches, she scans the restaurant and chooses the table at the far end which is the picture-perfect space for her (the fallen shadows of trees are making floor glow as well as the time of the day and the background of the walls makes anyone stands out in that space)

Today all her friends are wearing the best contrast to the background where they sit, as the food arrives on the decorated palette the social media starts feeding on the food on the table. first reply to their stories come from Aradhana who can’t be more proud of her daughter, praising her appearances.   

BENITA  

(going towards the window) -when can 

we watch a movie? or should we eat first?

As the whole afternoon goes by and picture folder was almost full of new shots to share, like and comment. Benita takes shots with all of them, smiling into different cameras.

BENITA  

Next time can you wear something nice or 

try different haircut? (says to one of her 

friends) my photos are ruined because of you 

(to all) your payments will be done as soon as you transfer all photos to me.

Coming back. Benita wonders whether she can meet actual people where people are not only smiling for the shots. The urban city, where every individual is in their own bobble, desiring for smart, beautiful surroundings for their social standings in the society. when will the day come when people look up from the screen and say “hello, did you kill a cat today?”

Reaching home. Benita hugs Aradhana making her proud of her ideal daughter and both of them continue their chores of the day.

BENITA  

Well it seemed nice, but don’t you have 

friends? why there is a need of ordering

them? but if you are again going to order 

next week can you please replace the two girls.

(showing her the shot) This 

one takes the vibe down as well as this person

doesn’t glow much as compared to the background.

Aradhana looks at them carefully and adds the things that Benita said in their user review.

BENITA  

Okay, tell me if there is anything else to 

keep in mind, next time I will do it better.
